British Council UK

Hello this will be a short email. I'm not fully back to my normal self yet--still have a nasty cough not to mention my temperature is going up and down at the moment. I can't seem to shake this cough--I think I may have picked this up from my stepson, Reece. Hopefully, when it stops snowing, I will keep warm and eat more food. I should be fine and back to my normal self. The snow is pretty and I'm not keen on being outside at the moment--unless I have to go to work.

Anyway, I have my first tutorial with my tutor (Open University) on Saturday. Recently, I completed my first assignment. You have to check out this university--very organised. I felt confident about the writing my first paper and there wasn't any "guessing game"--I knew exactly what to do and how to reference quotations and structure my essay. The tutor is available (morning and evening) not to mention the book provided a detail explanation on how to effective write a critical essay, and I received other resources such as website assistance. Finally, I am learning how to understand the British system a lot better. Of course, it took 'ages' for me to complete the essay and now I have to complete some reading and prepare myself again for writing another essay soon. I will post the feedback back from my tutor when I received confirmation on how well/bad I did at a later date.

If you forgot, I'm doing this conversion course in psychology to gain GBR with the BPS. Yes, it's a slow process but it will be worth it in the end. I don't plan on continuing school nor do I desire to go to university after university. I am getting old and tired and it comes a time in every student's life when enough is enough. For me, this time, no more mistakes--its too damn costly. I will complete this conversion and plan to pursue a doctorate and lose my motivation or drive for the classroom and focus on the 'world of work'. Its kind of strange not having a full time job. It was hard for me at first because I'm use to working and being at home is a bit boring not to mention I don't like it. It's only so much television a girl can watch. And, of course, my eyes grow tired of staring at a computer screen too. So, this is it for me. I will eventually get back to the world of work.

For those of you who want to do a doctorate, I recommend this site; I found it when I was researching availability on psychology programmes. I was very much surprised by some of the changes. I have posted an application to Birkbeck University for consideration of a place and will complete other applications. I don't plan on missing the deadline this time and have to get my butt into a good doctorate programme. Keep your fingers cross for me--who knows, I just may land a place this year. Anyway, click the ‘title click’ above. I have to go and let my husband nurse me back to good health--this cough is getting to me.
